Resumo:
This article aims to discuss, in a sense merely exploratory and brief, some conceptual aspects of René Girard’s mimetic theory applicable to the nexus between the female character and her husband as a single narrator in the Fyodor Dostoievsky’s novel - A gentle creature. René Girard was a prolific writer and supported part of his theory of mimetic desire by examining some books written by Fyodor Dostoievsky. The theoretical assumptions and contributions were extracted mainly from Romantic Lie and Romanesque Truth, the book that inaugurates the thesis of mimetic desire with fulcrum in the method of comparative reading of renowned novelists. The French critic begins a preliminary analysis comparing the work with a very common problem in the literature of other writers: the mimetic desire and its repercussions. Then it evaluates the presence of the mimetic desire in a specific work, seeking to establish a link between the particular and the foreign, after which it compares the writings of an author in relation to the characteristics of the mimetic desire. The method, essentially qualitative, allows us to complete the analytical path of the works collected in the present work, highlighting the most relevant aspects of Girardian Theory and the novel of the Russian author.
