Resumo:
The present work had as main objective to make a theoretical and reflective study of the use of the phonic method in the literacy process starting from its materiality in the booklet "The Happy Little House". The methodology used was the qualitative bibliographical research, supported, mainly, in the studies of Capovilla, Mortatti, among other theorists who developed studies about this method, which, historically, contributed in the literacy process of the initial series, having as support its materiality in the booklet "A Casinha Feliz", authored by Iracema Meireles and Eloísa Meireles. The study based on the activities proposed in this booklet indicate, through its didactics and activities, that despite the effectiveness of the innovative method at the time it was implemented and that, for a long time, remained in the context of literacy Brazilian society, it was gradually considered a traditional method, being replaced by other methods considered more progressive. However, even if it is a traditional method, and even received several criticisms in the current Brazilian political and educational scenario, it is not possible to affirm its disuse in the classroom, mainly by teachers who did not adapt to the methodologies of more progressive methods.
