Asilidae is a family of predatory Diptera that exhibits some particular characteristics, among which the presence of a mistax and the existence of a well-adapted proboscis that help in the application of neurotoxic and proteolytic enzymes used for predation stand out. In addition, they have a long, broad face with compound eyes that are usually well set apart, the body commonly replete with spiniform setae, and the R-wing vein divided into four branches. The family has a cosmopolitan distribution with the exception of the Antarctic region. In the world there are 555 genera and 7.531 valid species. In Brazil, 101 genera and 458 valid species are registered. However, for the state of Tocantins, only three species in two genera are registered. Therefore, the present work aimed to contribute to the richness of Asilidae in the state of Tocantins, carrying out a taxonomic study of Asilinae and Ommatiinae species deposited in CEUFT. For this, the specimens were identified at the lowest possible taxonomic level, using articles with descriptions and taxonomic keys of the genera and species. Then, a representative of each species was photographed. 157 specimens were analyzed, 16 of Ommatiinae and 141 of Asilinae from CEUFT. All belonging to the subfamily Ommatiinae were identified at the species level. However, only 28 of the 141 specimens belonging to Asilinae were identified, the rest were classified into 54 morphotypes. The 44 individuals identified are distributed in seven genera and 12 species, being 11 known and one new. However, the work presents 11 new records for the state and the description of a new species of Cerozodus which, consequently, is the first described for the region. Thus, with this study, the richness of Asilidae known to Tocantins received an increase of 400%, going from three to 15 species.
