Firstly, a general characterization of democracy, with its main elements, highlighting the democratic State of Law was done. In order to justify the research, secondly, it is desired to make an exposition of the biopolitics based on Michel Foucault’s theory, later, its redefinition in the work of Giorgio Agamben was made. After applying the way of understanding the biopolitics through the Italian thinker, an approach to economics and democracy was explicited. At the end, after exposing how democracy can be reflected from biopolitics, it is argued that by relying on Agamben's ideas, one can perceive the limitations of democracy understanding that the critique of this political regime is one of the inexcusable tasks of the contemporary political philosophy. Busca-se neste trabalho problematizar a democracia como regime político incontornável em nossa cultura contemporânea, tendo como suporte teórico a biopolítica. Faz-se uma caracterização geral da democracia, com seus principais elementos, destacando o Estado democrático de Direito. Para fundamentar a pesquisa, em um segundo momento, almeja-se fazer uma exposição da biopolítica em Michel Foucault e, depois, sua redefinição na obra de Giorgio Agamben. Após efetivar ao modo de entendimento da biopolítica por parte do pensador italiano, explicita-se uma abordagem da economia e da democracia. Ao final, após fazer a exposição do modo como a democracia pode ser refletida desde a biopolítica, defende-se que, ao se apoiar nas ideias de Agamben, pode-se perceber as limitações da democracia, compreendendo-se que a crítica deste regime político é uma das tarefas inescusáveis da filosofia política contemporânea. 2019-02-06T13:22:52Z 2019-02-06T13:22:52Z 2017-12-18 Tese DUARTE, Fábio Henrique.
