In this sense, the objective of this research had analyze the effects of microcredit on the empowerment of beneficiaries of Banco do Povo in the municipality of Palmas, Tocantins’s state, with a focus on the gender perspective. The research theme was selected because of the importance of analyzing whether female empowerment is one of the results of municipal investments in public microcredit policies that have existed since 2005 in Palmas-TO. The methodology adopted was the Oral History that pointed out traits and specificities in the lives of these women and in their relationship with microcredit, giving them the opportunity to talk about their experiences. The Oral History lay bare networks of the daily life of these beneficiaries bringing to light the processes triggered from the signing of the microcredit contract. The analysis of the interviews was carried out based on theoretical assumptions regarding empowerment and gender roles. The interviews have evidence that, even though bring improvements in the living conditions of the women surveyed, microcredit did not reach the empowerment of these clients in order to give them conditions of emancipation, autonomy, social participation, selfesteem and educational formation, important factors for the real empowerment of these women and with a direct impact on the education of their children and all the people who live together. O microcrédito tem sido adotado em diversos países como uma ferramenta capaz de gerar renda, reduzir desigualdades sociais e empoderar mulheres. Neste contexto, esta pesquisa teve como objetivo analisar os efeitos do microcrédito no empoderamento ou não das beneficiárias do Banco do Povo no Município de Palmas, estado do Tocantins, com foco na perspectiva de gênero. O tema da pesquisa foi selecionado devido à importância de se analisar se o empoderamento feminino é um dos resultados dos investimentos municipais nas políticas públicas de microcrédito, existentes desde 2005 em Palmas-TO. A metodologia adotada foi a História Oral que apontou traços e especificidades na vida dessas mulheres e na sua relação com o microcrédito, dando-lhes oportunidade para falar de suas experiências. A História Oral desnuda redes do cotidiano dessas beneficiárias trazendo à tona os processos desencadeados a partir da assinatura do contrato de microcrédito. A análise das entrevistas foi realizada com base nos pressupostos teóricos referentes ao empoderamento e papéis de gênero. As entrevistas evidenciam que, apesar de trazer melhorias nas condições de vida das mulheres pesquisadas, o microcrédito não alcançou o empoderamento destas clientes no sentido de darlhes condições de emancipação, autonomia, participação social, autoestima e formação educacional, fatores importantes para o real empoderamento destas mulheres e com impacto direto na formação de seus filhos e de todas as pessoas que convivem com elas. 2019-04-04T18:01:20Z 2019-04-04T18:01:20Z 2018-06-18 Dissertação COELHO, Eliene Campelo.
