Resumo:
The objective of this study was to develop a diagnosis about the disposal of computer waste generated in the internal environment of the Federal Institute of Tocantins, Paraíso do Tocantins Campus. The research was conducted in a qualitative way, using the methodology of case study. With regard to the collection of information for research, this work was corroborated through a documental, field and bibliographic research. In this study, semi-structured interviews were used to feed the SWOT matrix. This feeding took place from the application of the semistructured interview that approached subjects pertinent to the environmental and strategic management. In a second moment the interviewees were invited to establish a hierarchy of the problems identified through the prioritization matrix, also known as GUT matrix - Severity, Urgency and Trend. The interview was carried out through a pre-established and at the same time flexible script, allowing to join subjective questions and created from the restlessness of the researcher. This study developed a model that can be used by other institutions of higher education in the use, management and control of electronic waste (informatics waste), describing steps that can contribute to the organization planning and consequently sustainability. It was possible to identify that the form of the computer waste treatment consists of only registering and depositing in a room of expedient material, with only one patrimonial control. In this way, an internal control was verified, not having, therefore, the management of this garbage. The diagnosis carried out in this study consolidated the use of the tools for the treatment of garbage in terms of use, management and control, especially with regard to disposal.
