Resumo:
Aging is a biological, psychological and social phenomenon that interferes with human existence and changes one's relationship with time, the world and one's own life history. Violence is a breach of the integrity of the person affected, manifested in a physical or psychological way. Triggered in many different ways, violence against the elderly is difficult to identify and its occurrence is not limited to specific contexts, since it is present in all social strata and age groups. Among the suffered violence stands out the sexual violence that besides causing a process of embarrassment, adds other forms of violence in which person is subjected to the sexual act against their own will. This study is qualitative, exploratory and aims to know the processes of coping with sexual violence by elderly women who were attended at the Service of Person in Situation of Sexual Violence - SAVIS of Dona Regina Hospital and Maternity in Palmas - TO . Data were collected through documentary research, semi-structured interviews and understood through Discourse Analysis. The narratives revealed some risk factors that corroborate the situation of violence suffered: living alone, disinterest of children, withdrawal from family members, feeling of loneliness, among other injuries. We also found some protective factors arising from family support, strengthening friendships, public security support, emotional and spiritual support of religious leaders. It was concluded that overcoming the difficulties experienced were related to the return to work, return to routine, approach with family members and adherence to specialized services, thus favoring the process of psychological resilience.
