It presents as main objective to analyze the profile of the teachers who teach the discipline of Art in the state schools of the municipalities of Araguatins, Augustinópolis and Esperantina, in the Bico do Papagaio region, Tocantins. As methodology, this research follows the perspective of the qualitative approach, of documentary, bibliographic and empirical characteristics. In accordance with this methodology, we also used the semi-structured questionnaire applied to teachers who work in the Art discipline in these three cities, seeking to understand their profile and raise questions about the problem of this research. Among some results, we found from the results found that after going to the teaching units surveyed, that the teachers participating in the questionnaire proposed by the study, besides not being trained in this area, presented inadequate methodologies to develop the teaching potential and learning in the arts, since the expositive and explanatory classes were predominant as the most common means of "passing on" the contents that need to be studied in this area, according to their reports. This research also proved what was once only personal assumption: that art teaching is performed by people from other areas in the Bico do Papagaio region. With this, I noticed a lack of initial and continuing training courses for the arts (visual arts, theater, dance and music) that can meet the demand of teachers trained in this area for the state public network of the region researched, which would fill the gap in that territory. : Assim, evidenciamos que a arte tem passado por momentos difíceis nos últimos anos, pois fica a margem das demais disciplinas, sendo mais considerada como mera atividade curricu- lar, e tampouco importante disciplina curricular e área do conhecimento, visto que o sistema está mais preocupado com leitura e escrita (não que sejam menos importantes) e assim deixa de lado o ensino de artes, haja vista que a mesma é fundamental para o educando no que se refere à criatividade, imaginação, coordenação motora, leituras visuais, sentidos, percepção musical e também não podemos deixar de incluir a interação social e cultural. Apresenta co- mo principal objetivo analisar o perfil dos professores que lecionam a disciplina de Arte nas escolas estaduais dos municípios de Araguatins, Augustinópolis e Esperantina, da região do Bico do Papagaio, Tocantins. Como metodologia, esta pesquisa segue a perspectiva da abor- dagem quali-quantitativa, de característica documental, bibliográfica e empírica. Em conso- nância com essa metodologia, utilizamos também o questionário semi-estruturado aplicado aos professores que atuam na disciplina de Arte nessas três cidades, buscando compreender o seu perfil e levantar questões acerca da problemática desta investigação. Dentre alguns resul- tados, constatamos, a partir dos resultados encontrados, que após ir até as unidades de ensino pesquisadas, que os professores participantes do questionário proposto pelo estudo, além de não serem formados nessa área, apresentavam metodologias que não contribuião muito para desenvolver todo o potencial de ensino e aprendizagem em artes, uma vez que eram predomi- nantes as aulas expositivas e explicativas como o meio mais comum de “repassar” os conteú- dos que precisam ser estudados nessa área, segundo os seus relatos. Essa pesquisa veio a comprovar também o que antes era apenas suposição pessoal: de que o ensino de arte é de- sempenhado por pessoas de outras áreas na região do Bico do Papagaio.
