Resumo:
The aim of this study is to present a scientific article “Research instrument on the knowledge of health professionals about patient safety” built on the Institutional Volunteering Program in Scientific Initiation (Pivic) from August 2018 to August 2019 and submitted to the Amazon Science & Health Magazine. The methodology is an exploratory descriptive, cross-sectional design with qualitative approach, whose objective was to develop a research tool to identify the knowledge of health professionals about the occurrence of incidents related to patient safety. To elaborate this instrument, an integrative review was initially performed on the studies that applied some research questionnaire, and aimed to analyze the knowledge of professionals on the subject of patient safety. After analyzing the studies identified in the review, the questions of the research instrument were consolidated and a semi-structured questionnaire was elaborated that addressed social and professional aspects. Results and Discussion: the research instrument presented had as its research axis the knowledge of professionals about patient safety, more specifically about the international patient safety goals, and the importance of incident notification and classification. The main variables identified in the literature review of the 14 selected articles comprised the research instrument presented in this study. It was concluded that it was possible to present the article submitted in the Journal Amazônia Science & Health. In addition, that the construction of a research instrument is a fundamental foundation for the implementation of assertive future actions in favor of patient safety in health services in order to identify and avoid failures and errors in patient care, furthering the professional practice of nursing and subsidizing teaching and research on this theme. The validation of this data collection instrument in future studies is suggested in order to make the instrument more specific.
