This undergraduate thesis proposes a interventions program in the urban blocks in the city of Palmas, state of Tocantins, Brazil. Based on concepts that integrates Sustainable Urbanism, the intervention aims to requalify the squares by means of bioconstructions, and socially bring residents together through actions of permaculture, as well as foster the sensation of biophilia. The Tocantins capital, with its remarkable layout amid a “roadist” heritage, characterized by an orthogonal grid of streets, and in its central portion, the presence of dozens of similar habitational blocks, with it respectives squares in the inside portion. The scale of the city, with its wide streets, low density, inadequate urban transport and harsh climate, makes walking difficult for pedestrians, discouraging social contact. There is an absence of shaded locations, and human scale meeting spaces; however, upon entering the residential blocks it is recognizable the potential for the stimulation of ecological and social activities, due to the presence of free public spaces, such as squares, present in all blocks of the central plane of the city. Reflecting and proposing actions on topics such as permaculture, bioconstruction, biophilia and meeting, the intervention program starts from the square - important equipment for leisure and contact with nature at the neighborhood scale -, so as to reach the entire community of residents of the block that will receive the program. With a replicable character, the intervention program uses parameters found in the central blocks to establish implementation stages. After completion of the intervention in a locality, the same process can be employed in a next block. Through the implementation of the program, the sense of belonging and community among the residents is stimulated, while the bioconstruction and permaculture interventions promote the requalification of the spaces, for the permanence of the physical, social and ecological benefits, results of the actions on the area. |
