Resumo:
This study aimed to describe the nutritional characteristics as well as the use of limitations babassu mesocarp bran (BMB) in power lambs. The experiment was conducted at the Federal University of Tocantins, Araguaína Campus in sheep and goat farming industry and in laboratory tests and in vitro ruminal fermentation. Two experiments were conducted. The first experiment consisted of two parts, the first assessing the intake and digestibility and the second feeding behavior. Twenty lambs were distributed in different inclusions of BMB (0, 7.5, 15, 22.5% DM) in a completely randomized design, with five replicates per treatment. The second experiment aimed to demonstrate the kinetics of fermentation and in vitro degradability of the dry matter, via a technical adaptation "Hohenheim Gas Test". In this second experiment were conducted two tests: the first using the pure-product BMB and corn as a standard source and the second using diets with inclusions of BMB in the following proportions: 0%; 7.5%; 15% and 22.5%. The experimental design was randomized blocks, six blocks in the first test and five in the second test. There was a linear increase in the intake of dry matter g/animal/day. The dry matter digestibility was negatively affected by the inclusion of by-product. The absolute times of eating, ruminating and idleness were not affected. The BMB has grain size below 8 mm is considered extremely thin. There were significant differences (P <0.05) between the equations and gas production curve, where corn grain (CG) showed higher production of gas (PG) that the BMB. The concentrates with BMB inclusions had lower fermentation kinetics patterns diets without byproduct of inclusions (0%). The BMB can be used as feed for lambs, however minimal changes have included the use of animal behavior and ruminal fermentation in vitro kinetic thus reservations should be made regarding its use.
