Currently, the quest for energy efficiency and alternative and renewable energy sources has been the focus of much research around the world. In recent years, the development of solar technologies has shown great progress and with increasing competitiveness, the costs of these technologies have fallen significantly. In this niche market, of the many ways of obtaining clean energy, solar stands out for being abundant free and also for causing low environmental impact. Photovoltaic energy has been widely studied. However, there is still little literature that addresses the use of concentrated solar energy. It is, therefore, in this context, that this work is presented, which will elucidate the current scenario and future perspectives of the energy, in Brazil and in the world, in what it refers to: to the form of exploitation, associated technologies, costs, environmental factors and national legislation for the licensing of a thermo solar power plant.
