Identifying, from the study of visual culture, possibilities of teaching Visual Arts in promoting learning experiences to discuss, in a critical and creative ways of unsettling visuality generated in everyday life, presenting contemporary conceptions concerning the teaching of visual arts. In addition, the work discusses the relevance undertaken by images in today's world that is widely recognized. The perspective of the study of visual culture allows you to recognize the most diverse agents of cultural processes, allowing the student to explore and exploit their own cultural references. The teaching of the visual arts may not be a content part in schools, which do not relate the local and personal experiences of students. The visual artifacts can be an important bridge for reflections on cultural dimensions, social and subjective. The conceptual basis for the research is based on theorists who treat this theme as: JOLY (2007), HERNÁNDEZ (2000; 2007), MARTINS (2011), TOURINHO (2011), among others. The methodology is based on bibliographical research, it is important to understand that the bibliographic research consists not only in the accumulation of content related to problematic, its structure consists in removing approaches relevant to the study of different ideas and authors. The study showed that in the face of the immense information conferred and stemming from the perception of the image, we can provide viewers of art, empowerment training visual critique of human being and their relations in the society in which he lives and in the world. O presente estudo tem por objetivo elucidar a importância do ensino de artes visuais na contemporaneidade onde o mesmo deve estimular questionamentos e problematizações, nos revelar e instigar à novas combinações e recriações, estender caminhos à reflexão. Identificando, a partir dos estudos da cultura visual, possibilidades do ensino de Artes Visuais em promover experiências de aprendizagem que discuta, de forma crítica e criativa, formas de visualidades geradas na vida cotidiana, apresentando concepções contemporâneas relativas ao ensino das artes visuais. Além disso, o trabalho aborda a relevância empreendida pelas imagens no mundo de hoje que é amplamente reconhecida. A perspectiva dos estudos da cultura visual permite reconhecer os mais diversos agentes dos processos culturais, permitindo que o estudante explore e valorize suas próprias referências culturais. O ensino das artes visuais não pode ser um conteúdo a parte nas escolas, que não relacione as experiências locais e pessoais dos estudantes. Os artefatos visuais podem ser uma importante ponte para reflexões nas dimensões cultural, social e subjetiva. A base conceitual da pesquisa fundamenta-se em teóricos que tratam dessa temática como: JOLY (2007), HERNÁNDEZ (2000, 2007), MARTINS (2011), TOURINHO (2011), entre outros. A metodologia empregada é com base na pesquisa bibliográfica, é importante entender que a pesquisa bibliográfica não consiste somente em acúmulo de conteúdos relacionados à problemática, sua estrutura consiste em retirar abordagens relevantes para o estudo de diferentes ideias e autores.
