Resumo:
This paper aims to review the role of the state in the economy. The methodology used was the literature review on the historical evolution of the role of the state in the economic domain, through the definitions given to it by economic theories, until they get to the state and its role in neoliberal capitalist economy. It can be concluded that great have been discussions of neoliberal theorists in favor of a state that interferes minimally in various sectors, among them the country's economic. However, when it is observed in practice, it appears that the most economically developed countries are those with a strong state that regulates the economy in its broad sphere. The discourse of neoliberal is to maintain a minimum State in the economic field, but what we see in practice is a state present and active in various segments of the economy.
