Resumo:
This work aimed to define a nitrogen and potassium fertilization strategy that allows better use of nitrogen and potassium supplied via mineral fertilization, generating greater productivity of Mombaça grass. For this, an experiment was developed simulating intermittent grazing in Mombaça grass in a 3 x 4 factorial design. The first factor was composed of the number of installments of nitrogen and potassium fertilization (2, 3 or 6 times) and the second factor considered the moment of application of fertilizers (0, 5, 10 and 15 days after cutting the forage. The division of nitrogen and potassium fertilization and the timing of application of the fertilizers did not influence the tillering of Mombaça grass. However, the application on the fifteenth day after cutting, it restricted the production of total dry mass of the pasture. The Mombaça grass had adequate productivity indexes for the intensification of pastoral production systems and presented good structural quality, with predominance of leaf production. of fertilizers, the most appropriate strategy was to split the annual dose of 150 kg ha-1 of N and K2O into two equal plots applied until the tenth d went after cutting or grazing the forage. Yields similar to those obtained in this study can be obtained by managing the height of the pasture with 65 cm in pre-grazing and 30 cm in the residue.
