Resumo:
Parasitic diseases represent a Public Health problem, due to the high rate of morbidity and mortality in populations in underdeveloped countries and the fact that they can cause developmental and learning disorders in school-age children. In the teaching of Sciences, the textbook (DL) is often the only resource present in the teaching-learning process, so that, and thus, constant studies are needed to verify the quality of its service to education. In this context, the general objective of this study is to analyze the human health content about parasitic diseases, in Biology textbooks, used between the years 2009 to 2020, in the city of Araguaína-TO. To achieve this objective, a qualitative study was carried out, more precisely, a documental analysis of the selected textbooks was carried out, using as a reference the methodology of content analysis, proposed by Bardin (2009). The results obtained show that the number of pages dedicated to parasitic diseases has decreased over the years, compromising and omitting relevant information and concepts that can help prevent these diseases. A, in addition, the conceptual errors found also contribute to the generation of wrong information about the parasitosis.
