The Cerrado Biome occupies the second largest position of the South American continent in territorial area behind only the Amazon biome, presenting a great biodiversity. Therefore, the objective of this study was to analyze alpha and beta diversity of six areas of cerrado sensu stricto, TO. The data of the cerrado sensu stricto woody vegetation were collected in the municipality of Cariri-TO and compared with data compiled from five inventories carried out in remnants of cerrado sensu stricto in the state of Tocantins, distributed in the municipalities of Formoso do Araguaia-TO, Gurupi-TO, Dueré-TO, Porto Nacional-TO and Philadelphia-TO. The alpha diversity of the analyzed areas presented Shannon-Weaver indices ranging from 3.21 to 3.68 nats / individual and the Pielou indices with values from 0.77 to 0.87, with these values it is possible to affirm a high alpha diversity. The beta diversity by Sørensen similarity index resulted in the formation of four groups, group A formed by area 1 and area 3 with a similarity of 49%, group B formed by areas 2 and 4 with 40.4%, group C formed by area 6 with 35.7% where it binds to group A, group D composed by area 5 with 30.5% which binds to group C. The floristic similarity of the analyzed areas was low, being less than 0.5, leading to the beta diversity to be high. Through the areas analyzed in the cerrado sensu stricto it was verified that this phytophysiognomy presents great floristic diversity.
