Autism is a global developmental disorder characterized by limited social interactions,
restricted communication, and pattern of methodical and stereotyped movements and
behavior. The aim of this study was to investigate what has been produced in the
scientific literature regarding the care of patients with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
in their family. The research is a bibliographical review of literature, in which the
databases of the Biblioteca Virtual de Saúde - BVS, LILACS, and SciELO were used.
Results: 270 articles were found, of which 31 were selected according to inclusion and
exclusion criteria. Conclusion: It is identified that there is a shortage of bibliographical
material related to Caring for the Autistic and Family, in which the few studies have
pointed out the need for knowledge about autism by nursing professionals. In face of
the diagnosis, it was observed that the Brazilian studies indicate that this is given late
and is demonstrated as a moment that involves great suffering by most families. |
