This research had as object the Teaching of Portuguese Language offered in the regular teaching
school. The research problem is: what are the challenges in teaching the Portuguese Language
(L2) to deaf students at school? This research is justified by the fact that, as an academic in the
Language Course, I noticed this in some deaf colleagues in the course, who had difficulties in
reading and writing production. Initially, this was the fact that motivated me to choose the topic.
In addition, I think the theme is important, as research has shown that deaf students have shown
a considerable deficit in the process of acquiring reading and writing throughout their school
career. I believe that this research can contribute to the training of professionals who work with
the deaf, as well as the training of future professionals, awakening new perspectives in them.
Furthermore, this research meets the new educational context of the deaf, which officially will
be under bilingual guidance, which means that the Portuguese language for the deaf, considered
their L2, should be taught in a second language perspective. The general objective of
this research was to present the challenges of teaching the Portuguese Language (L2) to
deaf students in regular school. It was a qualitative research, exploratory, bibliographic type.
The research data will be collected from bibliographic sources, such as: books, articles,
dissertations and theses. The data will be recorded and then analyzed from the content analysis. |
