It is undeniable that the world is living in an era of technological innovations that converge and characterize the fourth industrial revolution. however, the civil construction industry, unlike other industries, has not kept up with the massive development mentioned above, since it presents craft construction practices that refer to techniques developed in the second industrial revolution. given this situation, the importance of analyzing how Industry 4.0 can offer improvements to this sector is highlighted, as well as the possible impacts or disadvantages associated with the civil construction modernization process. that said, this paper discusses industry 4.0 in civil construction, portraying the possible advantages and disadvantages linked to the use of three tools (bim, drones and 3d printers) by construction companies in their works, seeking to show that the renovation of techniques and of construction technologies is extremely necessary to achieve better levels of productivity, lower costs and less waste of materials, making the construction process more sustainable and taking construction to another level. the objectives were achieved through an extensive bibliographic survey on the recurring theme, using as a database such platforms as google school, sciencedirect (scopus), scielo, among others, in addition to a previous survey in palmas city about the dissemination of these tools from industry 4.0 before the city's builders.
