In this way, there is the imaginary that the English learning would be conditioned to the conviviality with natives, mainly in the United States, that is usually the preferred destination of those who intend to acquire or to improve the knowledge in English language. Thus, this work investigates how the beliefs, social representations and the American Dream promote the English teachers’ identity construction based on the three graduated students’ life narratives. These graduate students studied “Letras/Inglês” (at Federal University of Tocantins, Araguaína Campus, in Brazil) and they are living in the USA. This research is qualitative and bibliographical. We used Paul Thompson's Oral History methodology (1992) to access these narratives. As a theoretical contribution, we move the concepts of Josso (2007) about the hinge moment and Moscovici (2003) that deals with the social representations of the subject and their forms of anchoring and objectification. To treat about beliefs and critical English-language teaching, we rely on Rajagopalan (2005) and Leite (2018). In view of the analysis carried out, a table of words was sketched to exemplify the cultivation of certain discourses involving beliefs and imaginaries employed in the academic environment – the university – and other collective universes – social groups – that together strengthen the individual universe of each subject and his / her representations of Being an English teacher, therefore, these individuals anchor themselves in discursive reverberations (reports of experience abroad and American Dream, Au Pair programs), images (pictures, books), cinematographic (films, series) and sensory (well-being). Muitos acadêmicos, ao optarem pela licenciatura em Letras/Inglês, em algum momento da graduação ou depois dela são inclinados à ideia de que é preciso vivenciar uma experiência no exterior para que assim possam aprender a língua alvo. Dessa forma, há o imaginário de que o aprendizado da língua inglesa estaria condicionado ao convívio com nativos, principalmente nos Estados Unidos, que costuma ser o destino preferido daqueles que pretendem adquirir ou aperfeiçoar o conhecimento em língua inglesa. Sendo assim, este trabalho investiga como as crenças, representações sociais e o American Dream impulsionam na construção identitária do professor de LI, tendo como base as narrativas tematizadas de vida de três acadêmicas egressas do curso de Letras Inglês – CAMUAR residentes nos EUA. A pesquisa é qualitativa de cunho bibliográfico. Utilizamos a metodologia da História Oral de Paul Thompson (1992) para ter acesso a essas histórias. Como aporte teórico, movemos os conceitos de Josso (2007) sobre o momento charneira e Moscovici (2003) que trata das representações sociais do sujeito e suas formas de ancoragem e objetivação. Para abordar sobre as questões de crenças e ensino crítico de língua inglesa embasamos em Rajagopalan (2005) e Leite (2018). Diante das análises realizadas, um quadro de vocábulos foi esquematizado como a maneira de exemplificar que há o cultivo de determinados discursos envolvendo crenças e imaginários empregados no ambiente acadêmico – a universidade – e demais universos coletivos – grupos sociais – que juntos fortalecem o universo individual de cada sujeito e suas representações de Ser professor de língua inglesa, pois, esses indivíduos ancoram-se em reverberações discursivas (relatos de experiência no exterior e American Dream, Au Pair Programs), imagéticas (fotos, livros), cinematográficas (filmes, séries) e sensoriais (emotivas – wellbeing). 2022-08-02T17:59:37Z 2022-08-02T17:59:37Z 2022-08-02 Monografia COSTA,Janaína Aguiar Cavalcante.
