Resumo:
The The MATOPIBA region covers the states of Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí and Bahia, it is an agricultural frontier focused on agribusiness with the production of commodities, mainly soy. Many of these producers use land grabbing to further expand their properties, this method is fraudulent, embola finds several legal tricks that benefit the grileiros. Being responsible for serious socio-environmental consequences, such as deforestation, contamination of soils, rivers and air by the use of pesticides, fertilizers, much violence and misery against the traditional peoples who use these lands to maintain their subsistence. The main objective of this research is to evaluate the socio-environmental consequences of land grabbing in MATOPIBA in the region of Tocantins, thus knowing the socio-historical aspects of the region, Identifying the main socio-environmental consequences caused by land grabbing relating to environmental legislation and land regularization with the occurrence of this practice and discuss possible ways of dealing with the socio-environmental impacts generated as a result of this political and economic project. This debate is very important for society to discuss the real interests behind MATOPIBA, showing how it further aggravates the socio-environmental problems in this region, highlighting the land issue that has been suffering fraud caused by land grabbing in order to serve the great capital. On the other hand, social movements such as the Landless Rural Workers Movement (MST) fight against this agricultural model and against land grabbing with the legal support of the Land Statute, Federal Constitution, Land Regularization, ecosocialism and agroecology management. Using bibliographic research as a methodology and qualitative, descriptive analysis and the historical-dialectical materialist method. MATOPIBA covers a vast area full of particularities because each state has its characteristics, both territorial, cultural and legislative, even though the text has focused especially on the area of the state of Tocantins, the discussion about these and many other issues from this expansion of agribusiness.
