Resumo:
The exploration and disordered consumption of medicinal plants in the Cerrado Biome as an alternative in the use of therapeutic medicines is putting the species in extinction and compromising biodiversity. The objective of this work was to analyze the medicinal plants of RENISUS and their relationship with soil, climate, secondary metabolites and the therapeutic safety of plants. The methodology was based on documental and bibliographic research, whose main sources were data from RENISUS, Brazilian Pharmacopeia, Memento Fitoterápico, Horto Medicina da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina and the base book by Lorenzi and Matos (2008). The medicinal plants indicated by the SUS were identified in the studies by their habitat, climate of origin, therapeutic indications and active compounds. The results indicated the need for studies of medicinal plants from the Cerrado for laboratory certification, proving their therapeutic and toxicological use to meet the needs of communities. Only 23.6% of the plants indicated by RENISUS and analyzed in the research presented therapeutic indications, which highlights the need for scientific studies on the safety of use and pharmacology, aiming at their medicinal use. The studies showed that most of the medicinal plants indicated by the SUS and registered with ANVISA for commercialization are exotic, which highlights the great potential for exploitation of native species. Finally, the results pointed out the importance of conscious consumption and production and the creation of socially and ecologically sustainable production chains.
