Resumo:
This dissertation deals with the process of territorialization of the Elite Troop of the Military Police of Tocantins - CIOE-PMTO, that is, the organization and symbolic constitution of former members and members of the then Independent Company of Special Operations, as CIOE during the research was elevated to Special Operations Battalion - BOPE. It is about giving visibility to these men and their strategies of distinction in the Military Police of the state of Tocantins from the culture and process of territorialization. The theoretical framework was based on the perspective of Pierre Bourdieu, especially the concepts of habitus, field and symbolic capital, in an attempt to understand the reasons for the creation of the CIOE and the construction process of its symbolic marks, between 2003 and the beginning of 2021. The literature used dialogues with Anthropology, Sociology, Geography and History. The sources used underwent a qualitative and quantitative approach, through the analysis of official documents of the corporation and application of structured questionnaires to some former members and members of the CIOE. Finally, it was possible to reveal culture and territorialization from the references of Bourdieu, Denécé, Raffestin and Saquet, facilitating the understanding of culture, territorialization, territoriality and the construction of new habitus in CIOE members, who were previously part of the ordinary troop and the permanence of these habitus in its former members. These habitus, as defined by Bourdieu, are present in the group's speech, gestures, behavior and values. Furthermore, the recurrent insistence on mobilizing arguments to "make believe" in the need for the creation of Special Police Forces was noticed, showing the culture, territorialization and territoriality of this unit distinct from the common ones, namely: the elite troop of the Military Police of Tocantins.
