In this work, we present the result of the analysis of the novels Female Solo: Love and
Mistake (2002) and My dear strangers (2017), by Livia Garcia-Roza. The main objective of
the research was to analyze the profiles and the construction of the feminine identity of the
main characters of these narratives, inserted in the postmodern context of contemporary
Brazilian literature. To carry out this research, the theorists BAUMAN (2001, 2004), HALL
(2019) and HUTCHEON (1991), among others, were instrumental in explaining concepts
related to changes in gender relations and configurations of relationships arising from
modernity. Equipped with this theoretical apparatus, it is noticeable how the literary work of
Livia Garcia-Roza opened space for the representation of female subjects, who inscribe their
bodies in their projects of open identities. Both protagonists turn their gaze to their
interiorities, revealing their desires through their narrative “voice”, thus seeking to confront
their limitations and achieve their goals. |
