For this, the qualitative methodology was used in a thematic content analysis of interviews and questionnaires applied to councilors and former councilors of the city. It was identified that the unequal domestic workload to which women are subjected and the lack of financial resources for campaign are some barriers to the entry of more women to the area of political representation of the city. Esta monografia analisa, amparada em estudos realizados no campo da Ciência Política, a sub- representação política feminina no Legislativo Municipal da cidade de Tocantinópolis – TO ao longo de sucessivas eleições, sob um recorte temporal dos pleitos ocorridos entre os anos de 2004 a 2020. Para isso, utilizou-se da metodologia qualitativa em uma análise de conteúdo temática de entrevistas e questionário aplicados à vereadores e ex-vereadoras do município.
