The present work aimed to investigate the changes in the landscape relating to the
agroecological and extractive practices practiced in the Palmares settlement,
araguatins municipality. Aiming to identify how to identify the agroecological and
extractive practices practiced in P.A. Palmares, the production of food for the
consumption and generation of income of the community; relate the use of agroecology with biodiversity conservation; and identify the areas with vegetation cover and land use in the settlement, in order to analyze the landscape of the settlement. The rural participatory diagnostic methodology was used to obtain the primary data, consultations in public agencies such as: Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), National Institute of Colonization and Agrarian Reform (INCRA), Department of Finance and Planning of the State of Tocantins (SEPLAN/TO) and preparation of cartographic representation of the study site. As results, a characterization of P.A. Palmares was performed as the number of settlers, the sizes of the community lots, the geomorphology of the locality, altimetry, slope and soils, then the analysis of vegetation cover and land use was performed in the settlement from 2017 to 2021, three categories were found: water, Open Ombrófila Submontana Forest and pasture that during the five-year period did not suffer major changes in this period. Agroecological practices such as planting vegetables, planting annual crops such as corn, no-tillage in straw, perennial crops, cattle breeding, and pigs were observed that guarantee the community's food security and income generation and contribute to the
preservation of biodiversity. Finally, it was possible to achieve the proposed objectives, but the abandonment of P.A. Palmares by the state was contacted because there are no public policies that guarantee community access to basic needs and a road of poor quality that ends up hindering the disposal of agroecological products, causing peasants to reduce the production of agroecological products. |
