Resumo:
The purpose of this work is to present the capacity of religion to exert change in the geographic space, thus being a modifying agent of the territory and its landscape. This work explains one of the various religious movements that exist in our society, Pentecostalism, one of the ways to exercise power within the territory, even if it is symbolic through the historical context of Pentecostalism, I intend to explain its emergence, which was not in Brazil but In a short time it was present in all Brazilian territory. The largest existing Pentecostal church is the Assembly of God, being the second pentecostal church implanted in Brazil, beginning in the peripheral zone of Belém-PA (1910-1911) and standing out for the other Brazilian cities and regions. Today, not only is it the largest Pentecostal church, but it is also the largest evangelical church in Brazil, with several branches, known as ministries. Thus, we will observe in this work one of the oldest ministries that was installed in the municipality of Babaçulândia (TO) through such branch, the Assembly of God Ministry SETA. The methodology adopted for the development of the present work included a bibliographical survey, field research and case study. The result of this research indicates that religion has great value for geographical studies and the innumerable ways of observing the territory, realizing that religion is present and acts as a modifying agent of the landscape of a territory.
