And for the expansion of public health actions in the territories, the Family Health Strategy (ESF) is characterized as the priority gateway to a health system, mainly due to the continuity and comprehensiveness of primary care, in addition to coordination assistance within the system itself (locality), family-centered care, community guidance and participation, and the cultural competence of professionals. In this sense, we sought to recognize the health and social protection network of the elderly affected by the disease, the relationship with available public services, social rights and individual/collective duties related to leprosy, and finally, to draw a picture of the disease numbers in the State and in the City of Miracema do Tocantins, object of this study.
