The Public Housing Policies in Brazil has gained enough visibility, and its peak occurred in 2009, when then President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, instituted the Program My Home My Life-PMCMV under Law No. 11,977 of 2009. This law is intended to subsidize resources to acquire new urban housing and the reform of rural housing. To strengthen the PMCMV, in 2014 the Ministry of Cities made public the Port. Nº 21, on Social Work, which aims to incorporate the beneficiary families with educational, political and sustainability activities through social interaction, guaranteeing their rights and improving their quality of life. The aim of this article was to investigate the weaknesses of Public Housing Policies implemented in the municipality of Araguaína from the Ordinance N°. 21, and how the beneficiaries organize themselves in the search for an improvement in the quality of life. The focus to be studied are the families residing in the Lago Azul I housing complex, of which 16 families were interviewed through questionnaires that covered questions of occupation, income, schooling and problems in the community. In addition, they applied two semi-structured scripts with the representative of the families in the community and a representative of the government. The main results show that there is a need for better organization in the search for incentives and a greater participation of the families aiming improvements to problems of infrastructure, security among others raised in this work.
