Um novo protocolo: Cetamina, Midazolam e Dexmedetomidina e seus efeitos sob a fisiologia, sedação e recuperação anestésica com Atipamezole em macaco-prego (Sapajus apella) de cativeiro
Background: The genus Sapajus sp. inhabits Brazilian captivity and its management is constant. The objective was to evaluate the anesthetic and physiological quality of ketamine (5-7 mg/kg), midazolam (0.2 mg/kg) and dexmedetomidine (0.01-0,015 mg/kg), and reversal with atipamezole (0 .03 mg/kg) in...

Background: The genus Sapajus sp. inhabits Brazilian captivity and its management is constant. The objective was to evaluate the anesthetic and physiological quality of ketamine (5-7 mg/kg), midazolam (0.2 mg/kg) and dexmedetomidine (0.01-0,015 mg/kg), and reversal with atipamezole (0 .03 mg/kg) in adults and juveniles of Sapajus apella in captivity.
Methods: Monitoring of heart rate, partial oxyhemoglobin saturation, core temperature, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, respiratory rate and blood glucose occurred in 4 moments. After 40 minutes, atipamezole was applied for qualitative evaluation of anesthetic recovery. Data were analyzed by ANOVA (p<0.05) and Tukey and Mann-Whitney test.
Results: There was a slight reduction in HR and RR in adults, while young animals showed no statistical change. The values of oxyhemoglobin saturation, internal temperature, blood pressure and blood glucose remained normal. There were no complications during the anesthetic recovery, which occurred quickly.
Conclusions: The use of dexmedetomidine, ketamine and midazolam in S. apella in captivity allowed intense muscle immobilization and rela |
