This research aimed to understand through the narratives of pioneer women and women who
have had and still have participation in the formation of the settlement Gleba Colorado
located in the municipality of Riachinho - TO, in the period from the 1980s until the year
2021, from the perspective of analyzing in an interdisciplinary way the socio-spatial
trajectory, understanding its territory, territoriality, identity and memory from the reports of
these women activists in the field and their representation. In this sense, the following
question arises: how have these women contributed to the development and formation of the
settlement? Unfortunately, only two of the pioneer women are still alive and living in the
settlement. Due to their age and health problems, they presented some difficulties at the time
of the research, but they tried to describe the struggle for land. In relation to the research
methodology, we adopted the following procedures: bibliographic and documental research.
The research method is oral history with life history techniques, using as theoretical basis the
works of Portelli (1997), Alberti (1996) and Thompson (1992). The result of the research
pointed to the fact that the fight for the rural settlement was not an easy path, the struggles
started since the occupation of the land, the fight for water, electricity, education, all lived
under threats of being evicted or killed by gunmen. Those were difficult times. But the
conquest of the land and the construction of the territory and the production of territorialities
were built with the strength and struggle of peasant women. |
