This scientific production addressed the main points about pedophilia, such as, for example, the appropriate criminal response and its framing in the light of the current Brazilian legal and penal system. Pedophilia is a complex topic and, in view of this, requires an interdisciplinary approach. For this purpose, bibliographic research and methods of qualitative, descriptive and exploratory approaches were carried out. It was found that pedophilia does not only cover sexual desire for minors, but also psychological disorders that, if left untreated, will stimulate recurrence. It is a species of the genus paraphilias, known as sexual perversions, foreign currency in illegal and abnormal. This means that abnormal behavior is not necessarily illegal and vice versa. It is, therefore, a clinical and not a criminal treatment
