Throughout the process of creating and consolidating a society free and independent of the colonial yoke, which persisted for centuries with the European invasion of Africa, in Guinea-Bissau, the songs, also called popular songs, like other customs and traditional manifestations, also served as tools to resist the European acculturation imposed at the time. As in all African countries, songs are indispensable elements of coexistence and dissemination of culture, and it is an instrument that keeps the secrets, stories and codes of oral tradition shared in initiation ceremonies and rituals, at wedding parties, crops and harvests, in funeral and religious ceremonies. The present work entitled Popular songs as cultural resistance against Portuguese colonialism in Guinea-Bissau, discusses the importance and role played by artists, poets and musicians and their works in the struggle for independence, in the affirmation of a national identity and in the consolidation of a sovereign state, they being the main elements of cultural manifestations, in which social codes are shared. The guiding question of the research asks how these voices and lyrics theorize popular resistance against Portuguese colonialism in Guinea-Bissau? In this literary context and in the struggle for freedom, José Carlos Schwarz stands out, an important musician and poet from Guinea-Bissau, considered the pioneer of modern Guinean music, is one of the reference names in this dissertation, since he used his voice and lyrics for the various complaints about the ideologies and intentions of the then colonial government, as well as the governmental system implemented after the struggle. The general objective was to analyze the impact of Guinean popular songs in the struggle for independence in Guinea-Bissau. And as specific objectives, to identify the denouncements marked in the songs of José Carlos Schwarz, through popular Guinean sayings and proverbs; analyze the complaints found in the songs in relation to the period of the struggle for independence; describe the impact of these songs on the mobilization of the Guinean population during the periods of the armed struggle for the country's independence. It is a bibliographic research, in which it researches the historical, political and social context of the period of independence of Guinea-Bissau, to analyze the lyrics of the songs of that period. It is concluded that the study was important for contributing to the circulation of these Guinean songs, essential in the construction and preservation of the Guinean national identity and in the formation of a critical society, which encourages the critical reading of the lyrics and reveres the voices that were used in proverbs and popular sayings in the denunciation and to call the people to the fight. A Guiné-Bissau foi um dos países africanos que sofreu com a colonização europeia durante séculos e conquistou sua independência no dia 24 de setembro de 1973, por meio da luta armada que durou onze anos. Ao longo do processo de criação e consolidação de uma sociedade livre e independente de jugo colonial, que persistiu durante séculos com a invasão europeia a África, na Guiné-Bissau, as músicas, também chamadas de canções populares, igual aos outros costumes e manifestações tradicionais, também serviram de ferramentas para resistir contra a aculturação europeia imposta à época. Como em todos os países africanos, as canções são elementos indispensáveis da convivência e divulgação da cultura, e é um instrumento que guardam os segredos, as histórias e códigos da tradição oral partilhado nas cerimônias e rituais de iniciação, nas festas de casamento, lavouras e colheitas, nas cerimônias fúnebres e religiosas. O presente trabalho intitulado As canções populares como resistência cultural contra o colonialismo português em Guiné-Bissau, discute a importância e o papel desempenhado pelos artistas, poetas e músicos e suas obras na luta pela independência, na afirmação de uma identidade nacional e na consolidação de um Estado soberano, sendo eles os principais elementos das manifestações culturais, em que os códigos sociais são compartilhados. A questão norteadora da pesquisa indaga como essas vozes e letras teorizam a resistência popular contra o colonialismo português em Guiné-Bissau? Neste contexto literário e de luta pela liberdade, destaca-se José Carlos Schwarz, um importante músico e poeta da Guiné-Bissau, julgado o pioneiro da música moderna guineense, é um dos nomes referência nesta dissertação, visto que utilizava da sua voz e letras para as diversas denúncias sobre ideologias e as intenções do então governo colonial, assim como do sistema governamental implementado depois da luta. O objetivo geral foi analisar o impacto das canções populares guineense no processo de luta pela independência da Guiné-Bissau. E como objetivos específicos, identificar as denúncias marcadas nas canções de José Carlos Schwarz, por meio dos ditos e provérbios populares guineense; analisar as denúncias encontradas nas canções em relação ao período da luta pela independência; descrever o impacto dessas canções na mobilização da população guineense nos períodos da luta armada pela independência do país. É uma pesquisa de cunho bibliográfico, em que pesquisa o contexto histórico, político e social, do período de independência da Guiné-Bissau, para analisar as letras das músicas desse período. Conclui-se que o estudo se fez importante por contribuir com a circulação dessas canções guineenses, primordiais na construção e preservação da identidade nacional guineense e na formação de uma sociedade crítica, que incentiva à leitura crítica das letras e reverencia as vozes que se utilizavam de provérbios e ditos populares na denúncia e para conclamar o povo à luta. 2023-08-31T21:08:15Z 2023-08-31T21:08:15Z 2023-03-27 CABI, Romilson Albat Gomes.
