The approaches found in the studies were: Most included female participants in their samples and predominated in the United States and Europe. Studies have shown benefits when using a non-prescriptive approach in psychic and physical aspects, including weight loss and its maintenance. In addition to showing positive results in the treatment of other cardiometabolic disorders (diabetes and hypertension). It was also found that studies with longer interventions tended to have better results in the interventions. Through this review, it was concluded that non-prescriptive approaches brought positive results for people with obesity and metabolic risk factors, in addition to having contributed to a better quality of life, lower levels of stress, better self-acceptance and weight loss.
