This research aims to investigate the initial training of graduates of the last semester
in Geography at Unifesspa (campus Marabá) and UFT (campus Porto Nacional) on
citizenship. The reasons that lead us to delve into the theme proposed here come from
the formative trajectory during the initial training in a full degree in Geography (2016 -
2020) at the Federal University of South and Southeast Pará (Unifesspa) - campus
Marabá. During the process while graduating, I got contacts with bibliographies of
authors such as: Callai (2014, 2015), Cavalcanti (2008, 2019) and Santos (2002,
2014), which address themes of teaching Geography, Teacher Training, Citizenship
and Citizen Training. In view of this, to respond to the research objectives, the
methodological path adopted will be: A) bibliographical survey, B) documentary
research, C) application of a questionnaire and D) discussions of the results obtained
after the data collected through the answered questionnaires. Callai (2001) states that
Geography is a formative discipline par excellence, capable of equipping students to
understand and develop critical-reflective thinking, providing ways to grant them the
necessary conditions so that they can build citizenship, especially for the themes that
are worked on in the discipline. In this way, when working with Geography, we must
think of this science as transforming the reading and interpretation of the world in which
the subjects are inserted, considering citizenship education in a critical-participatory
way, contextualizing geographic education in the citizenship perspective. Geography
should be presented as a tool that will help the young student to understand their reality
and in the search for changes, being able to act politically in the construction of a more
socially and territorially just society, making it necessary to start from the initial training
of teachers. of Geography, in order to collaborate towards a transforming knowledge
capable of contributing to schools and in the promotion of citizenship practices. |
