The influence of DNA repair mechanisms is highlighted for describing the systems that guarantee the stability of the DNA molecule, since the knowledge produced or not can come to denote the development of knowledge in the area and this causes repercussions on the process of scientific communication of researchers in the areas of Cellular, Molecular Biology and Genetics in Brazil. In order to highlight the scientific context of this area, we used scientometric analysis to describe the scientific production of researchers in Brazil and exploratory research to identify the main categories of the DNA repair system. Thus, we selected 84 publications from 2011 to 2021 on DNA repair mechanisms. Regarding the exploratory research, five categories of DNA repair system mechanisms were identified. Thus, it was observed that in the publications surveyed, less than 10% of the works were published by Brazilian researchers and 48.56% of the publications came from institutional repositories. In addition, the Southeast region had the highest number of publications (44). Noting that there is a need to incorporate propositions throughout graduation in Brazil regarding the mechanisms of DNA repair, given that the productivity and visibility of publications is low.
