This research aimed to analyze how the media particularly, the newspaper Gazeto do
Cerrado, from the state of Tocantins - analyzes cases of violence against women and the
crime of femicide in that state. To this end, we collected the articles that reported violence
against women, in the years 2018 to 2021. Our approach is based on the theory of gender
relations, which enables the historical-social understanding of inequalities between men and
women and at the intersection with race/ethnicity and class. We conclude that the reports
are brief, often sensationalist and share with criminal reports, not addressing the specificity
of this type of violence and its causes. |
