As methodological procedures, we opted for a review on the theme of popular Catholic festivals and cultural geography and religion and interviews with people from the community, as well as participant observation. We concluded that when control of the feast went out of the hands of the community and went to the care of the church, the interest of the residents in participating in the preparations for the feast diminished, and when they did not feel theybelonged and were involved as subjects of the feast, the church, a fact that may have contributed to disinterest and in religion itself, leading many people to a change of creed. Este artigo tem como objetivo analisar A festa de São Domingos na Comunidade Pinheirópolis, em Porto Nacional, Tocantins, na perspectiva da geografia cultural. Como procedimentos metodológicos, optamos por uma revisão sobre a temática das festas populares católicas e da geografia cultural e da religião e entrevistas com pessoas da comunidade, além de observação participante. Concluímos que quando o controle da festa saiu das mãos da comunidade e foi para os cuidados da igreja, o interesse dos moradores na participação dos preparativos da festa diminuiu, e quando não se sentiram pertencentes e envolvidas como sujeitos da festa, sentiram diminuída sua importância para a igreja, fato que pode ter contribuído para o desinteresse e na própria religião, levando muitas pessoas para uma mudança de credo. 2023-12-26T15:51:10Z 2023-12-26T15:51:10Z 2023-12-26 Artigo XAVIER, Sheila Ribeiro.
