The objective of this work is to understand how solid health waste is managed in Basic Health Units - UBS, in the city of Araguatins - TO. To obtain the data, the methodological strategy adopted was documentary research, the application of questionnaires with those responsible for managing the Basic Health Units, the municipal health department and the Sanitary Surveillance. In addition to the questionnaires, on-site records were used, that is, photographic records and reports on the situation of managing Solid Health Waste during visits to the research sites. The results obtained point to irregularities, since there is no Health Waste Management Plan - PGRSS. In addition, there is a lack of correct identification on the internal collection containers, the segregation of waste is erroneous, in inappropriate places, in addition, it was observed that there is little information about the RSS generated in the municipality. Thus, the management of health waste in the city is unsatisfactory, because it goes against the legal parameters of the legislation. Data analysis enabled the identification of important points that need corrections. The implementation of a Health Waste Management Plan is essential to minimize the risks that RSS can bring to employees and the population served at the UBS.
