Its existence records date back to the 9th century BC, where the library of Nineveh stands out as the first library in the history of mankind. This work deals with the role of the library "Professor Severino Francisco" in the formation of undergraduates of the Chemistry course. Where the make observation about books that serves the chemistry area was carried out, as well as the relationship between students enrolled at the course with the aforementioned library and this collection, were interviewed was carried out via google forms 14 course students. The books analyzing demonstrates that, this collection is well structured, but with fragility in some areas of course such as, in inorganic chemistry that has most of the books in english and not used by the students, in the analytical there are few volumes for the area and experimental chemistry and there are few updated books. The questionnaire analyzing the applied, are observed that most of the interviewees use the library's collection in beginning of course. In general, students describe the library as a comfortable and pleasant space. However, it was observed not well used as a study environment, probably because of the lack of this culture in the region or well as the use of books in PDFs by computers or notebooks, some students have a computer /notebook and therefore do not use the computers provided by the library for study. Was possible observe that the library "Professor Severino Francisco" directly contributes to process of training students of the Chemistry Licentiate course - UFNT. As bibliotecas no mundo exercem um grande papel no acervo de informações diversas. Seus registos de existência datam do século IX a.C., onde destaca-se a biblioteca de Nínive como a primeira biblioteca na história da humanidade. O presente trabalho trata sobre o papel da biblioteca “Professor Severino Francisco” na formação dos licenciandos do curso de Química. Onde fez-se o levantamento do acervo que atende a área de química, como também foi observado a relação dos discentes matriculados no curso com a referida biblioteca e o seu acervo por meio da aplicação de questionário via google forms, obtendo 14 participantes na pesquisa. Em análise ao levantamento dos livros, percebe-se que este acervo é bem estruturado, porém apresenta uma certa fragilidade em algumas áreas do curso tais como, na química inorgânica que possuí a maioria dos livros em língua inglesa estes não utilizado pelos alunos, na analítica encontram-se poucos volumes para a área e química experimental e apresenta livros poucos atualizados. Ao analisar o questionário aplicado, observa-se que a maioria dos entrevistados utilizam o acervo da biblioteca, pincipalmente no início do curso. Em geral os alunos descrevem a biblioteca como um espaço confortável e agradável. No entanto observou- se que não é bem utilizado como ambiente de estudo, o que pode ser decorrente de uma falta de cultura de utilização da biblioteca como também o uso de livros em PDFs pelos computadores ou notebooks, visto que alguns alunos descrevem que possuem computador/notebook e por isto não utilizam os computadores disponibilizados pela biblioteca para estudo.
