Resumo:
This research has as main objective to explore the importance of using the dictionary in the classroom as an instrument to develop the lexicographic competence of students in an 8th-grade class. For this, we take as a base the theoretical principles of Lexicography and, in a special way, a Pedagogical Lexicography. As it is an important instrument in language teaching, we discuss the importance of using the dictionary in the classroom, an opinion supported by several authors, among which: BIDERMAN (2001), ISQUERDO (2004), PRADO ARAGONÉS (2001), KRIEGER ( 2012), Welker (2004). Besides, we raised reflections on Mexico, as an essential component in language teaching, as well as the relevance of using the dictionary for approaches related to Lexicography. In this context, we approach several elements, among which: dictionary types, dictionary structure, polysemy, etc. These approaches emphasize or use the dictionary in the classroom, as a contribution to the development of lexicographic competence, in the use of information or dictionary type to carry out proposed activities. To carry out this research, the methodological procedure was based on bibliographic research in which we seek to deepen the knowledge on the subject in question. This knowledge allows the application of activities involving the use of a dictionary, to promote a new look at the dictionary as a significant tool for the lexical development of basic education students. In this work, we arouse some reflections on the use of the dictionary, especially on Pedagogical Lexicography, considering the importance of polysemy in the teaching of the Portuguese language. The results obtained allow us to rethink a new way of using the dictionary in the classroom to produce knowledge and expand the lexicon.
