Resumo:
Art in Youth and Adult Education (EJA) stands out as an essential element in understanding the complexity and relevance of this educational scenario. In the historical context of youth and adult education in Brazil, there has been a significant movement towards democratizing access to education, seeking to eliminate barriers and provide inclusive educational opportunities. In this panorama, art emerges as a crucial component, as it transcends the traditional boundaries of learning, offering a means of expression and personal development. General objective: To carry out a State of the Art on theses and dissertations about art in the EJA in Brazil in Postgraduate Programs in Education (2002 to 2023), in the CAPES Catalogue of Theses and Dissertations. Specific objectives: To verify theses and dissertations in Education that address the category "art in the EJA". To identify theses and dissertations in the Northern Region that address the category "art in the EJA". To find out if there are any theses and dissertations on the category "art in the YAE" in the state of Tocantins. This is a quantitative-qualitative, exploratory and bibliographical study. The search was carried out in the Capes Theses and Dissertations Catalog. By typing in arte na eja we found 157 searches, and as a result we found 17 dissertations and 2 theses in PPGs. We did not find any dissertations or theses from the North Region or the state of Tocantins available in the Capes database. From the analysis of the theses and dissertations we found, we can see that the shortage of qualified teachers, combined with the lack of training and continuing education programs in the arts for instruction in Youth and Adult Education (EJA), has repercussions. There is therefore a need to reformulate pedagogical practices that recognize the importance of art as culture. The lack of academic production in this field raises concerns, contributing to the devaluation of students in the EJA. This research contributes to greater attention and appreciation of this theme, with greater exploration and contemplation of this area, which is so necessary to make society more developed and critical. It is also necessary to rethink and give greater structure to YAE, in terms of the actions of educators, methodological practices, and how the contents are being worked on, so that through this it is possible to find strategic paths capable of offering a solid, quality education.
