The study aimed to investigate whether parenting experiences generate anxiety
in university mothers, and whether, due to the time dedicated to parenting, they practice less
physical activity. To answer the objectives, field research was carried out, of a qualitative and
quantitative nature with exploratory and descriptive objectives. A focused interview was used
with sociodemographic questions and the exercise of parenthood; Beck Anxiety Inventory
(BAI); International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ). Four mothers who were students
of the Degree in Physical Education, aged between 21 and 43 years old, black, with children
aged 0 to 18, in a heteroparental and single-parent configuration, participated in the research.
They all have a support network (family) to pursue higher education. Three of them have a
mild degree of anxiety and all practice physical activity related to household chores and
childcare. It is concluded that, due to the greater burden of parenting, they experience more
anxiety and practice less physical activity. |
