This work proposes an initial investigation into the role of the researcher in the context of
scientific research and the dissemination of their findings through publications. The research
addresses fundamental issues, such as the choice of publication outlets for their research and
the target audience. The study focuses on a sample of researchers of both genders from some
public universities who work in the fields of chemistry, biology, and physics. The qualitative
approach methodology included the administration of questionnaires with open-ended
questions, sent via email to researchers and research professors at academic institutions. The
results indicate that not necessarily do the research conducted at the university reach society,
but when it does, it is in the same manner as it reaches specialists, through specialized
communication channels, in a specialized language. There was no mention of writing popular
science texts, nor any mention of classical scientific popularization journals in the field. There
is, therefore, no explicit and structured scientific outreach activity, but rather only scientific
dissemination activity.
