The compulsory supervised curricular internship was conducted under the supervision of
veterinarian Nubia Elisa Montenegro Lima, and under the guidance of Prof. Dr Francisca Elda
Ferreira Dias, the internship was carried out at the Clinical Pathology Laboratory of the
Veterinary Clinic of the University of the Federal University of Northern Tocantins. It began
on 14/08/2023 and ended on 25/10/2023, totalling 400 hours. The aim of this work was to
describe the main activities carried out during the internship period, which were: assisting with
the entire routine of laboratory tests, from receiving and registering requests for tests to be
carried out to preparing and reading the samples. The most frequently performed tests in the
laboratory routine were: haemoparasite research, blood count and biochemical and serum
analyses. In addition to these, the laboratory also carried out reticulocyte count tests,
trichograms, skin scrapings, coproparasitological tests, urinalysis, cytology, biochemistry of
biological fluids and analysis of body fluids less frequently.
