Resumo:
The present work aims to describe the activities carried out during the Supervised Curricular Internship, a mandatory discipline to obtain a bachelor's degree in Veterinary Medicine. The chosen internship area focused on beef and dairy cattle reproduction, involving technical visits to farms and activities in the field of animal reproduction and improvement. This encompassed the implementation of Fixed-Time Artificial Insemination (FTAI) programs, inducing puberty in heifers, pregnancy diagnosis through ultrasonography or rectal palpation, measurement and analysis of data obtained during FTAI, and assistance in maternity management. The internship was supervised by Veterinarian Caio Nabi Cayres Feitosa, responsible for VetNorte, operating in the Bico do Papagaio region (extreme northern Tocantins state) from August 14th to October 25th, 2023, totaling 400 hours. It was possible to conclude, after this period, the importance of animal reproduction techniques for increased productivity, emphasizing the necessity of aligning these techniques with sanitation and nutritional practices implemented since the calves' birth. It is also noteworthy to mention the acquired knowledge regarding the veterinarian's responsibility in this scenario, aiming to integrate productive efficiency, ethics, and animal welfare in their practices on rural properties.
