The purpose of this article is to identify the challenges and changes that occurred in the psychologist's work in social assistance after the beginning of the covid-19 pandemic and what role this psychologist played during this pandemic period. This is a systematic integrative review of articles found on the Scielo platform that correspond to the theme of Psychology in Social Assistance after the beginning of the covid-19 pandemic, Psychologist in the Pandemic, Social Psychologist in the Pandemic and, Role of the psychologist in the pandemic. 21 articles were found on the platform, 7 of which were selected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, and discussed in two categories: Social Vulnerability as a Collective Health Emergency, and the Role of the Psychologist in Social Assistance in Combating Social Vulnerability aggravated by the Pandemic. The results point out that the covid-19 pandemic has accentuated the socioeconomic crisis in Brazil with the addition of the health crisis of the coronavirus, revealing the neo-fascist and necropolitical facets behind the social mode of operation of the State by neoliberalism. Thus, new difficulties arose for social assistance workers, such as increased social vulnerability, budget cuts, lack of PPE, distancing from access to public services and retaliation against public policies. Faced with this new work context, the servers, through intersectoriality and multidisciplinary work, developed means of contact with the population, minimizing the contagion of the virus. Therefore, it is concluded that the psychologist as a social actor plays a contributing role in maintaining the life and dignity of the populations most affected by the covid-19 pandemic in Brazil.
