Resumo:
The number of informal workers is growing continuously, informality is a trend and an alternative to unemployment. For the present work, we have as a study group 23 workers from the informal sector of Araguaína-TO, a medium-sized city in the interior of the Legal Amazon, they are manicurists, hairdressers, cosmetics retailers, housekeepers and day laborers. The objective is to understand what reading these workers have of the city that presents itself as the Capital of Boi Gordo, as well as to identify its socioeconomic profile. For this, we used semi-structured interviews and content analysis to understand the measured data. In addition, the research carried out qualifies as descriptive and exploratory, we adopted the inductive approach method and qualitative research typology. The partial results demonstrate dubious readings: sometimes the city presents itself as a scenario of possibilities, sometimes as a limiting factor due to various precariousness.
