Due to the lack of information about the distribution and composition of urban forest
fragments, there is a great limitation regarding the effort to recover and conserve the
native flora that still remains, even if in fragments. The objective of this work was to
know the species present in three remaining urban forest fragments in Palmas – Tocantins.
Ten temporary plots measuring 20x50 meters were set up in each of the three fragments
studied. All individuals with breast height circumference (BHC) equal to or greater (>)
than 10cm were sampled at 1,3m from the ground surface. The general phytosociological
parameters were observed and some branches and all the necessary data for the
identification of the specimens were collected and the phytosociological parameters were
calculated using FITOPAC software. 1,346 individuals, 67 species and 44 families were
found over the 3ha. This number corroborates the expected pattern for areas like these.
The species Connarus suberosus, Caryocar brasiliense, Qualea parviflora showed higher
occurrence and wider distribution. Connaraceae, Vochysiaceae, Fabaceae and
Caryocaraceae were the most abundant families and Fabaceae and Vochysiaceae were
the most diverse. The data found in this work reflect the richness and diversity that can
be found in remaining fragments of the Cerrado, therefore, aiming at the permanence,
conservation and insertion of these native species in the urbanization plan of the city, it is
recommended to organize a list of species for this purpose. |
